TEMPE, Ariz., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Limelight Networks, a leading content delivery network for digital media, today announced it is expanding its board and management team with the addition of David Peterschmidt and Gary Valenzuela as Directors, and David Van Engelhoven as General Counsel. Peterschmidt is President and Chief Executive Officer of Openwave Systems, a maker of software for mobile phones. Valenzuela, a former Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Yahoo!, is an entrepreneur and executive actively involved in real-estate development and the San Jose Sharks NHL hockey team, of which he is part-owner. Van Engelhoven was previously a Senior Partner at the Cavanagh Law Firm where he focused on intellectual property management and litigation.

"David Peterschmidt and Gary Valenzuela are both seasoned executives in the technology industry, and David Van Engelhoven brings a wealth of experience involving intellectual property issues and other complex legal matters. We are excited to have these outstanding business leaders on our team," said Jeff Lunsford, CEO and Chairman of Limelight Networks. "Their respective experience sets will help us greatly in achieving our goal of becoming an enablement partner of choice for companies building online businesses around rich media assets."

Peterschmidt has more than 25 years of experience in building global companies to become leaders in their industries. Prior to joining Openwave, he was CEO and Chairman of Securify, a security software company. Before that, he was chairman and CEO of Inktomi where he steered the company to a leadership position in Internet infrastructure and guided Inktomi's public offering, operations expansion, and the sale of the company to Yahoo! in 2003. Prior to Inktomi, Peterschmidt managed operations at Sybase for six years, serving as its Chief Operating Officer for his last five years there. Peterschmidt currently serves on the board of directors of Business Objects, UGS Corp. and Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA).

At Yahoo!, Valenzuela was the company's first CFO, leading the company's initial public offering. He retired from Yahoo! in July 2000 to spend more time with his family and pursue his interests in real-estate development, philanthropy and sports. Prior to joining Yahoo! in 1996, Valenzuela was CFO and Senior VP of TGV Software, Inc., where he led the company's IPO and then managed the company's eventual sale to Cisco Systems. Valenzuela's background includes over 20 years in Finance and Administration within the high technology industry. He has also held executive positions at Pyramid Technology, Wyse Technology, Syntex Corporation and KPMG. Valenzuela serves on the Board of Leaders of the USC Marshall School of Business. He graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis and a Computer Systems minor. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Limelight's new General Counsel, David Van Engelhoven brings nearly 25 years of experience counseling clients in a variety of industries on many complex and evolving legal issues. Most recently, Van Engelhoven was a Senior Partner at the Cavanagh Law Firm, where he served on its board. Van Engelhoven was previously a Senior Partner at the O'Connor Cavanagh Law Firm. Over the past 10 years, his career has been focused on assisting clients with intellectual property management and litigation, general business planning and product and service distribution issues. Van Engelhoven is licensed to practice in both California and Arizona. He attended Georgetown University Law Center and Arizona State University College of Law, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1982.

Limelight CEO Lunsford noted that Peterschmidt and Valenzuela have a strong background in guiding high-technology companies. "David's significant experience in infrastructure at Inktomi and the mobile sector at Openwave, and Gary's in search and content at Yahoo!, will be valuable in our effort to be a premier content delivery network for companies delivering video, music, games, software and social media content to Internet audiences worldwide," Lunsford said.
